Hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) is wit of lichtgeel, geurloos, niet-toxisch vezelige of poederachtige vaste stof. Het wordt bereid door de etherificatie van basiscellulose- en ethyleenoxide (of chloorethaan) niet-ionische oplosbare cellulose-ethers. HEC -cellulose is veel gebruikt in petroleummijnbouw, coatings, constructie, medisch voedsel, textiel, papier maken en polymeren polymerisatie en andere velden.
